Clay Design Construction & Millwork (Clay DCC) is a design-build construction company with an integrated design office, showroom, and millwork shop under one roof. We build and renovate homes with uncommon care - pairing thoughtful design with excellent execution.
Join a lead-led site crew and help keep residential construction projects safe, organized, productive, and respectful of the client's home. This is a good fit for someone with real residential construction experience who takes pride in being productive, prepared, steady, and coachable.
What you'll do
- Support safe, organized, high-quality residential construction work on renovations, additions, custom homes, and select commercial projects.
- Set up and maintain site protection, dust control, floor protection, access routes, tool zones, and daily housekeeping.
- Load, unload, move, stage, and protect materials so the crew can work efficiently.
- Demolition, framing, blocking, insulation, vapour barrier, drywall handling, trim prep, exterior prep, painting prep, cleanup, and other site tasks as trained and directed.
- Use hand tools and a cordless drill/driver safely within your training and competence.
- Report hazards, damage, shortages, missing information, and unsafe conditions early.
- Represent Clay respectfully in clients' homes and work well with carpenters, apprentices, sub-trades, PMO/office, and site leadership.
What you bring
Required:
- Approximately 3 years of residential construction experience, ideally in renovations, additions, custom homes, or residential remodelling.
- Own basic hand tools and a cordless drill/driver suitable for daily site use.
- Strong safety mindset and willingness to stop when unsure.
- Reliable transportation to variable project sites.
- Reliably and punctually attend work, schedule, travel to job sites, and meet driving/transportation requirements.
- Physical capability for active construction work, material handling, cleanup, and site support.
- Coachability, reliability, good pace, and a practical attitude.
- Competent in using digital tools for time tracking, photos, communication, and updates.
Preferred:
- Working at Heights, WHMIS, First Aid, or other construction-related training.
- Experience working in occupied residential homes.
- Interest in progressing toward a Red Seal General Carpenter pathway based on demonstrated skill, aptitude, reliability, and business need.
Tools & Training
- Experienced Construction Labourers supply basic hand tools and a cordless drill/driver.
- Boot allowance - $200 annually, where eligible under Clay policy.
- Tool allowance - $300 annually, where eligible under Clay policy.
- Paid mileage between jobs or out of town, where applicable under Clay policy.
- Training provided/required based on job requirements: WHMIS, Working at Heights, First Aid, Health & Safety orientation, site-specific training, and other assigned modules.
