Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Environmental \& Social Specialist to join our Solar/PV project in Saudi Arabia. The role will be responsible for monitoring and managing the project's environmental and social requirements throughout construction, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, client requirements, approved environmental and social management plans, and project commitments.
The successful candidate should have experience working on Solar/PV, renewable energy, power, infrastructure, or large-scale construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and monitor the project's Environmental \& Social Management Plan (ESMP) and related procedures.
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify environmental and social risks, non-compliances, and required corrective actions.
- Monitor construction activities for compliance with environmental requirements related to dust, noise, waste, water, soil, spills, emissions, and pollution prevention.
- Monitor waste segregation, storage, transportation, and disposal in accordance with project and regulatory requirements.
- Support environmental monitoring activities and maintain relevant records and reports.
- Assist in managing environmental incidents, complaints, non-conformances, and corrective/preventive actions.
- Monitor social requirements related to worker welfare, accommodation, working conditions, community interaction, and grievance management.
- Support implementation and monitoring of the project's Grievance Mechanism for workers and relevant stakeholders.
- Coordinate with HSE teams, contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and client representatives on environmental and social matters.
- Conduct environmental and social awareness sessions, inductions, and toolbox talks when required.
- Maintain environmental and social documentation, inspection records, monitoring data, permits, registers, and reports.
- Assist with internal, client, lender, and regulatory environmental and social audits and inspections.
- Support environmental permitting and authority coordination when required.
- Prepare periodic Environmental \& Social performance reports and track action items through closure.
- Ensure subcontractors comply with project environmental and social requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, Social Sciences, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant Environmental \& Social experience, preferably in Solar/PV, renewable energy, power, infrastructure, or major construction projects.
- Experience implementing ESMPs and environmental monitoring programs.
- Good understanding of construction-related environmental risks and mitigation measures.
- Knowledge of worker welfare, stakeholder engagement, and grievance management.
- Familiarity with Saudi environmental regulations and compliance requirements is preferred.
- Familiarity with international E\&S frameworks such as IFC Performance Standards, World Bank Group/IFC EHS Guidelines, or lender requirements is an advantage.
- Strong report writing, documentation, inspection, and coordination skills.
- Good command of English; Arabic is an advantage.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience on utility-scale Solar/PV projects.
- Previous KSA/GCC project experience.
- Experience working with EPC contractors, consultants, developers, or project owners.
- Environmental or sustainability-related professional certifications are an advantage.
Pay: ﷼8,000.00 - ﷼9,500.00 per month
