Position Overview

GeoTerra is currently looking to hire:

  • Intermediate / Senior Environmental Engineers
  • Intermediate / Senior Geotechnical Engineers

This opportunity is ideal for experienced professionals looking to join a growing company where they can play a key role in technical delivery, client development, mentorship, and long-term regional growth.

We are looking for motivated individuals who enjoy both technical work and business development and who are interested in helping establish a strong GeoTerra presence in Halifax and across Atlantic Canada.

Key Responsibilities – Environmental Engineer

  • Manage and execute Phase I \& II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs)
  • Coordinate soil, groundwater, sediment, and excess soil investigations
  • Support remediation projects, environmental monitoring, and environmental compliance programs
  • Prepare technical reports, proposals, work plans, and cost estimates
  • Coordinate drilling programs, monitoring wells, sampling, and subcontractors
  • Support excess soil management and environmental permitting projects
  • Provide environmental oversight during construction and remediation activities
  • Assist with client meetings, proposal preparation, and business development initiatives
  • Build and maintain relationships with developers, contractors, municipalities, and industrial clients
  • Mentor junior staff and support project coordination activities
  • Support the growth of GeoTerra’s environmental division in Atlantic Canada

Key Responsibilities – Geotechnical Engineer

  • Manage and execute geotechnical investigations for residential, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects
  • Coordinate drilling, test pits, laboratory testing, and field investigations
  • Prepare geotechnical reports, recommendations, and engineering analyses
  • Review subsurface conditions, bearing capacity, settlements, slope stability, and foundation design recommendations
  • Provide technical support and field reviews during construction activities
  • Coordinate materials testing activities including compaction, concrete, and asphalt testing
  • Prepare proposals, technical scopes, and cost estimates
  • Support project management and coordination activities
  • Build and maintain relationships with developers, contractors, and project stakeholders
  • Mentor junior staff and support team growth
  • Support the growth of GeoTerra’s geotechnical operations in Halifax and Atlantic Canada

Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field
  • 4+ years of experience in environmental consulting and/or geotechnical engineering
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills
  • Ability to manage projects, schedules, and client relationships
  • Entrepreneurial and growth-oriented mindset
  • P.Eng. designation or eligibility is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of Atlantic Canada regulations and construction practices is considered an asset
