We're looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead one or two product engineering teams while remaining a technically credible engineering leader who enjoys developing people, improving engineering practices and delivering high-quality software.

The Opportunity

As an Engineering Manager, you will lead cross-functional engineering teams responsible for designing, building and operating enterprise software used by customers across the logistics industry.

Working closely with Product Managers and Product Designers, you will be accountable for engineering delivery, technical quality, operational excellence and the development of the engineers in your team.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll combine people leadership with technical judgement—contributing to architecture discussions, solution design, code reviews and engineering improvements while helping your teams deliver reliable, scalable software.

You'll play an important role in continuously improving engineering practices, delivery predictability and team capability as Yojee continues to scale.

What You'll Do

• Lead one or two engineering teams, providing coaching, mentoring and performance management to support engineer growth and development.
• Partner closely with Product Managers and Product Designers to deliver high-quality software that meets customer and business needs.
• Drive engineering delivery through effective sprint planning, prioritisation, risk management and continuous improvement.
• Contribute to architecture discussions, solution design and technical decision-making across your teams.
• Maintain high engineering standards through code reviews, testing practices, production readiness and operational excellence.
• Support the delivery of reliable, scalable and secure software solutions across distributed systems.
• Foster a collaborative engineering culture focused on ownership, accountability, continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
• Work with senior engineering leadership to improve engineering processes, technical standards and delivery capability across the organisation.
• Remain technically engaged through code reviews, design discussions, prototyping and hands-on engineering where appropriate.
• Encourage the effective use of modern software development tools, including AI-assisted engineering practices, to improve productivity and software quality.

What You'll Bring

Leadership

• At least 8 years of software engineering experience, including a minimum of 2 years leading engineering teams.
• Experience managing engineers through hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance management and career development.
• Demonstrated ability to build high-performing engineering teams and create an inclusive, collaborative working environment.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across Engineering, Product, Design and business stakeholders.

Technical

• Strong backend software engineering experience using one or more modern programming languages such as Go, Elixir, Ruby, Java, Kotlin, Python, C# or Node.js.
• Experience designing and building distributed, event-driven or high-volume production systems.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, system design and engineering best practices.
• Experience contributing to architecture reviews, solution design and code reviews.
• Familiarity with modern cloud-native technologies, containerisation and CI/CD practices.
• Experience working with relational and NoSQL databases, messaging technologies and API-based integrations.

Delivery

• Experience leading engineering delivery within Agile software development environments.
• Demonstrated ability to improve engineering quality, operational reliability and delivery predictability.
• Experience working closely with Product Managers and Designers throughout the software delivery lifecycle.
• Comfortable balancing business priorities, technical quality and delivery outcomes.

AI \& Modern Engineering

• Experience using AI-assisted software development tools to improve engineering productivity and software quality.
• Ability to evaluate AI-generated code and promote effective engineering practices within development teams.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Elixir and Phoenix.
• Experience with React and TypeScript.
• Experience working within logistics, supply chain, transportation or other integration-heavy industries.
• Experience working in fintech, payments or other highly available distributed platforms.
• Experience building cloud-native applications using AWS, Kubernetes or similar technologies.
• Experience working within fast-growing technology companies or scale-up environments.
