Electrical Building Services Engineer

Arcadis are seeking an experienced Electrical Building Services Engineer to join the project team as the client-side representative responsible for overseeing the delivery of electrical building services works throughout the construction phase. Site is located in Co. Kildare.

The successful candidate will act as on-site technical representative, ensuring that electrical systems are designed, installed, tested, and commissioned in accordance with project specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and programme milestones.

This is a hands-on site-based role involving regular interaction with contractors, consultants, construction managers, and Diageo stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Project Delivery \& Contractor Oversight

• Act as client-side representative for all electrical building services activities.
• Oversee electrical contractors and specialist vendors throughout construction and commissioning phases.
• Monitor installation quality, safety performance, and progress against schedule.
• Participate in site inspections, walkdowns, and contractor coordination meetings.
• Review and approve method statements, risk assessments, inspection test plans (ITPs), and construction documentation.
• Ensure works are delivered in accordance with project specifications, Irish regulations, and industry best practice.

Electrical Engineering

Provide technical oversight for:

• LV electrical distribution systems
• Lighting systems
• Small power installations
• Cable containment and routing
• Electrical rooms and switchgear installations
• Earthing and bonding systems
• Emergency lighting systems
• Building utility connections
• Power monitoring and metering systems
• Fire alarm interfaces
• Associated control systems

Building Services Coordination

• Coordinate electrical activities with mechanical, HVAC, architectural, and civil disciplines.
• Review contractor drawings, technical submittals, and design changes.
• Support troubleshooting and resolution of site technical issues.
• Ensure interfaces between electrical and building services systems are effectively managed.

Required Experience

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years' experience delivering electrical or building services projects.
• Strong understanding of LV distribution, lighting, power and building services infrastructure.
• Experience managing contractors in a construction environment.
• Experience working on industrial, manufacturing, food \& beverage, pharmaceutical or large commercial projects.
• Strong knowledge of commissioning and project handover processes.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
