Motel Duty Manager
We are seeking a highly organised, detail-oriented, and proactive Motel Duty Manager with strong leadership skills and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service in a fast-paced hospitality environment. This is a dynamic role where no two days are the same, offering the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of motel operations.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the daily operations and overall performance of the property, ensuring guests receive a high standard of service while supporting efficient operational management.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee front office operations, including reservations, guest check-ins/check-outs, room allocations, Webex account management, email correspondence, OTA and WhatsApp messaging, while ensuring exceptional customer service and effective interdepartmental communication.
- Assist with basic accounting functions, including monitoring accounts receivable and payable, and support purchasing and cost-control processes to ensure efficient financial and resource management.
- Demonstrate expertise in Property Management Systems (PMS), Channel Managers, Dynamic Pricing tools, Online Travel Agencies (OTAs), and website content management. Monitor occupancy, optimise revenue, maintain booking channel accuracy, and demonstrate working knowledge of ongoing website maintenance and digital performance.
- Assess and review customer satisfaction by monitoring guest feedback and responding professionally to reviews across the property's website and all OTAs, ensuring timely resolution of concerns and continuous service improvement.
- Prepare and manage daily housekeeping schedules when on duty including room inspections, and coordination with the housekeeping team to ensure timely room turnover, guest readiness, and compliance with property standards.
- Coordinate routine maintenance and report contractor requirements to the General Manager for approval and engagement.
- Maintain a safe environment for guests, staff, and contractors by monitoring compliance with health and safety standards, coordinating six-monthly evacuation drills, and promptly identifying and reporting hazards, maintenance issues, and safety risks.
- Manage the property's social media platforms by developing content, maintaining a content calendar, creating marketing materials, and implementing strategies to strengthen brand presence and drive market growth.
- Provide exceptional guest service by offering local tourism advice, arranging tours and transport, and recommending local attractions.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience within the hospitality industry and at least 2 years' experience in a supervisory or management role will be an advantage; OR
- Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality or Business Management (NZQF Level 7 or above)
- Proven knowledge and hands-on experience with any of the following:
- Property Management Systems (PMS), specifically Preno
- Channel management systems (SiteMinder preferred)
- Website development and maintenance
- Social media content creation and management
- Dynamic pricing systems, specifically RPG
- Major and mid-tier Online Travel Agency (OTA) platforms
- Holds a current and clean New Zealand Driver Licence or its equivalent
- Must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and always comply with all workplace drug and alcohol policies and procedures.
- Required to work for a minimum of 30 hours per week and a maximum of 40 hours per week.
- Must have legal rights to work in New Zealand.
- Must have contactable referees.

Pay: $27.00 – $35.00 per hour
