DevSecOps Engineer (AWS GovCloud / EKS / GitLab)

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced DevSecOps Engineer to support the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of secure cloud-native development environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in DevSecOps, AWS GovCloud, Kubernetes (EKS), GitLab CI/CD, and Linux administration. This position requires a self-motivated professional who can collaborate with software development teams while driving security and automation best practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with application development teams to coordinate and optimize processes within the DevOps ecosystem.
- Drive consistency by implementing DevSecOps best practices, standards, automation, and tooling across development teams.
- Design, create, and implement security solutions within integrated development environments (IDEs) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Actively participate in architecture discussions and provide technical input during major design decisions alongside solution architects.
- Design, implement, maintain, and optimize GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
- Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot containerized applications within AWS Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS).
- Support and administer AWS GovCloud infrastructure and cloud-native services.
- Perform Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) system administration and maintenance.
- Integrate security scanning, compliance validation, and automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
- Troubleshoot deployment, infrastructure, and application issues across development, testing, and production environments.
- Work independently while effectively collaborating across multiple technical teams and projects.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of demonstrated DevSecOps experience with practical implementation in enterprise environments.
- Minimum 2 years of experience configuring and maintaining GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
- Minimum 1 year of experience deploying containerized applications to AWS EKS Kubernetes clusters.
- Minimum 2 years of experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
- Minimum 2 years of experience administering cloud environments within AWS GovCloud.
- Experience integrating security into the software development lifecycle (DevSecOps).
- Strong understanding of containerization technologies (Docker/Kubernetes).
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or within a collaborative team environment.
Required Certifications
Applicants must possess one of the following certifications:
- CompTIA Security+
- CompTIA Cloud+
Equivalent DoD 8570/8140-compliant certification may be considered.
Required Clearance
- Active Secret or Top Secret Security Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar).
- Experience with Kubernetes security best practices.
- Familiarity with automated security tools (SAST, DAST, container scanning, dependency scanning).
- Experience supporting DoD or Federal Government cloud environments.
- Knowledge of NIST RMF, STIGs, and security compliance frameworks.
- AWS certifications are a plus.

Pay: $110,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
