Working with stakeholders across the business, the Data Scientist will design, develop and deploy BI, advanced analytics, ML models and AI driven solutions.
This is a hands-on, outcome-focused role combining statistical, data science and analytical expertise with strong commercial curiosity. The Data Scientist will own selected use cases across the full lifecycle—from problem definition, data exploration and feature engineering through to model development, deployment, monitoring and continuous improvement—and will be accountable for demonstrating measurable operational or commercial value. The role will also influence technical and governance standards and help shape how data science and AI are adopted across the Group.
Key Responsibilities:
- Translate business challenges into BI, analytical, statistical and Machine Learning solutions.
- Identify patterns, trends and opportunities within complex datasets to support strategic and operational decision making.
- Develop, validate and deploy predictive models, forecasting models and AI solutions that deliver measurable business value. Evaluate model effectiveness and monitor model drift.
- Develop and maintain governed, trusted datasets for BI/analytics and data science use cases.
- Ensure appropriate data quality, lineage and governance controls are considered throughout the analytical lifecycle.
- Work closely with Data Engineers to ensure data pipelines and analytical datasets meet reporting/BI and modelling requirements.
- Contribute to the design and optimisation of data models that support analytics and Machine Learning.
- Support the preparation, cleansing, transformation and feature engineering of data for analytical and AI use cases.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, automation and decision making through advanced analytics and AI
What are we looking for:
- Degree in Data Science or a related numerate discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Evidence of continued professional development in BI, data science, advanced analytics, ML, AI.
- Strong understanding of statistical methods, experimental techniques, and ML principles.
- Advanced data science and analytical capability, with the judgement to turn complex business challenges into robust approaches and measurable outcomes.
- Strong practical capability in Python and SQL across data exploration, feature engineering, modelling and validation, with experience of Spark and modern cloud data platforms.
- Expertise in statistical analysis, forecasting, predictive modelling, classification, clustering and optimisation, including developing and deploying production machine-learning solutions.
- Experience helping a growing data function establish technical standards, governance, best practices and effective ways of working.
- Proven success in a Data Scientist or comparable advanced analytics role, delivering measurable operational or commercial value.
- Substantial end-to-end experience defining, building, deploying and monitoring machine-learning and advanced analytics solutions in production or operational environments.
