The Data Architect & Data Manager is responsible for defining and governing the end-to-end data architecture, data management practices, and business intelligence roadmap for the Logistics Data Domain. This role serves as the bridge between business stakeholders, data engineering teams, analytics professionals, and senior leadership, ensuring that data solutions align with strategic business objectives while adhering to enterprise data governance standards.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Design, maintain, and evolve scalable data architectures and data pipelines in Snowflake, applying proven relational database design principles and modern cloud data platform best practices.
- Define standards for data modeling, integration, transformation, storage, and consumption across logistics data products.
- Review and approve architectural designs, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and data governance standards.
- Guide and mentor Data Engineers in implementing architecture solutions, ensuring compliance with coding standards, performance optimization practices, and data quality requirements.
- Monitor implementation progress and provide technical leadership throughout the development lifecycle.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, Data Analysts, and Visualization Engineers to gather and refine reporting and analytics requirements.
- Evaluate business intelligence requests based on strategic value, business impact, effort, and data readiness.
- Establish and maintain a prioritized analytics backlog and delivery roadmap.
- Resolve conflicts between tactical reporting demands and strategic data initiatives by ensuring alignment with long-term business objectives.
- Promote reusable data products and self-service analytics capabilities across the logistics organization.
- Ensure compliance with Data Governance standards, processes, policies, and controls.
- Define and monitor data quality improvement initiatives and remediation plans.
- Establish governance processes to ensure data remains fit for purpose, trusted, and available to support business operations and decision-making.
- Oversee end-to-end data lifecycle management activities from creation through archival and retirement.
- Act as the primary point of contact for logistics-related data topics.
- Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for logistics processes, transportation data, and supply chain analytics.
- Translate complex technical concepts, data architecture decisions, and analytics outcomes into business-friendly language for senior management and business stakeholders.
- Facilitate consensus among business and technical teams regarding data priorities, definitions, and governance decisions.
- Act as mediator and decision facilitator when disagreements arise related to data ownership, definitions, quality, architecture, or reporting requirements.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to Data Engineers, Data Analysts, and Visualization Engineers.
- Foster collaboration and accountability within multidisciplinary data teams.
- Promote adoption of best practices in data engineering, analytics, and governance.
- Develop and execute initiatives to improve data literacy across the Logistics organization.
- Enable stakeholders to make informed, data-driven decisions through education, communication, and change management activities.
- Monitor and coordinate data-related project activities across the Logistics Data Domain.
- Track project deliverables, milestones, risks, dependencies, and budgets.
- Support business case development and investment prioritization for data initiatives.
- Ensure data projects deliver measurable business value aligned with organizational priorities.
- Act as a trusted advisor for technology and data initiatives.
- Recommend appropriate data roles and skill profiles for projects, including Data Engineers, Data Scientists, Data Analysts, Visualization Engineers, Data Stewards, and Data Architects.
- Assess solution options and recommend fit-for-purpose technologies, architectures, and operating models.
- Support strategic planning and digital transformation initiatives through data expertise and thought leadership.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, Data Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in Data Management, Data Architecture, Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, or Analytics.
- Proven experience designing enterprise-scale data platforms and data pipelines.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary data teams and stakeholder landscapes.
- Experience implementing Data Governance and Data Quality frameworks.
- Proficiency in modern data platform technologies, including Snowflake, data modeling (conceptual, logical, and physical), SQL and relational database design, and ETL/ELT architecture to support scalable data solutions, efficient data integration, and reliable business insights.
- Proficiency in data warehousing, cloud data architectures, metadata and master data management, data quality management, and business intelligence tools such as Power BI, as well as experience with Agile methodologies and product backlog management to support robust data governance, scalable analytics solutions, and data‑driven decision‑making.
- Strong leadership and communication capabilities, including stakeholder management, influencing and negotiation skills, conflict resolution, coaching and mentoring, and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to executive audiences while balancing strategic thinking with operational execution.
