A Construction Laborer (General Laborer) provides essential support on construction sites by assisting skilled tradespeople, preparing work areas, handling materials, and maintaining a safe and organized job site. This role requires physical stamina, reliability, and the ability to work in various weather conditions while following safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Load, unload, and transport construction materials, tools, and equipment.
- Prepare and clean construction sites before, during, and after projects.
- Assist carpenters, electricians, plumbers, masons, and other skilled trades as needed.
- Operate basic hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Dig trenches, backfill excavations, and perform basic demolition work.
- Mix and pour concrete, asphalt, or other construction materials when required.
- Erect and dismantle temporary structures such as scaffolding, barricades, and fencing.
- Remove debris and dispose of waste materials in accordance with site procedures.
- Follow all workplace health and safety regulations, including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Perform other manual labor tasks assigned by supervisors to support project completion.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
- Previous construction or general labor experience is an asset but not essential.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg) or more and perform physically demanding work.
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Basic knowledge of construction tools and equipment.
- Strong work ethic, punctuality, and willingness to learn.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license or reliable transportation may be preferred.
