Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Excavation Project Manager to oversee multiple concurrent earthwork and utility projects for our growing company. This dual role requires an expert capable of managing project logistics, budgets, subcontractors, and client relations while actively performing on-site inspections, layouts, and establishing project control points. The ideal candidate bridges the gap between office administration and precise field execution across job sites located within a 100-mile radius of Texarkana.

Key Responsibilities \& Duties

Multi-Site Project Management

  • Portfolio Oversight: Simultaneously manage multiple commercial excavation and civil site development projects from pre-construction to closeout.
  • Schedule \& Logistics: Create and maintain project schedules. Order, coordinate, and track material deliveries.
  • Financial Controls: Manage project budgets, track daily production, and review job costs to maximize profitability.
  • Documentation: Execute and manage formal commercial paperwork including RFIs, Change Orders, Submittals, and monthly AIA progress billings.
  • Stakeholder Relations: Act as the primary point of contact for commercial General Contractors, civil engineers, municipal inspectors, and utility companies.
  • Estimating: Utilize Agtek software for take-offs, estimating and model building.

Field Engineering \& Layout

  • Site Layout: Perform precise field layouts for mass grading, structural excavation, building pads, and underground utility runs.
  • Control Points: Establish, verify, and maintain primary site control points and benchmarks based on civil engineering plans.
  • Tech Integration: Set up, calibrate, and troubleshoot Topcon GPS machine control systems and data collectors.
  • As-Built Surveys: Conduct intermediate and final as-built surveys to verify grading tolerances, compaction elevations, and utility placement.

Safety \& Compliance

  • OSHA Enforcement: Maintain 100% compliance with OSHA safety standards across all managed sites.
  • Environmental \& Utility Permits: Oversee SWPPP / erosion control compliance and manage active 811 utility locate tickets to prevent line strikes.
  • Company Policies: Protect the company’s interests, minimize conflicts, and professionally resolve issues.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial excavation, heavy civil construction, or site surveying.
  • Print Reading \& Take-offs: Advanced capability to read and interpret complex civil blueprints, grading plans, and utility profiles, with proven experience performing accurate digital quantity take-offs and project estimating.
  • Field Survey Skills: Proven proficiency operating Topcon robotic total stations, GPS rover units, and associated data collectors for construction staking.
  • Software Literacy: Competency with construction management platforms (e.g., Procore, AutoDesk, Excel, Bluebeam, Agtek) and civil modeling/take-off software.
  • Certifications: Valid OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days).
  • Licensing: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record to travel daily between multiple regional job sites.

Pay: From $85,000.00 per year
