Layman Coffee – Latte Art Jamming \& Home-Café Workshops
At Layman Coffee, we believe coffee should be fun, approachable, and inspiring. Our mission is to make coffee education accessible and exciting for everyone — no jargon, no intimidation, just great vibes.
We’re looking for Coffee Educator Trainees to join our team. You’ll start as a Class Assistant, learning the ropes of coffee education while supporting our workshops. Over time, you’ll grow into a confident Educator, able to lead sessions and inspire others.
Role Overview
As a Coffee Educator Trainee, you’ll support the smooth running of our Latte Art Jamming and Home-Café workshops. You’ll assist participants hands-on, manage class logistics, and learn foundational coffee skills. This role is perfect for someone who loves coffee, enjoys meeting people, and wants to grow into a trainer/host role.
Key Responsibilities
- Support setup and pack-down of coffee equipment before and after workshops
- Assist participants with simple technical tasks (tamping, pulling shots, frothing milk)
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the workspace
- Ensure participants feel welcome, safe, and included
- Provide support to the Lead Coach during workshops
- Uphold the Layman Coffee teaching style: fun, engaging, and jargon-free
What We’re Looking For
- A genuine interest in coffee and a willingness to learn
- Friendly, approachable, and confident in speaking with people
- Good team player – able to anticipate and support the lead coach’s needs
- Flexible and adaptable in a live workshop environment
- Detail-oriented and responsible with equipment and setup
- Availability on weekends and some weekdays (depending on class schedules)
- Commitment of at least 2 years (this is a long-term growth role, not a short-term gig)
(No prior barista or café experience required — we’ll train you!)
What You’ll Learn
- Hands-on coffee craft skills: espresso pulling, milk frothing, latte art basics
- Workshop hosting skills: communication, crowd engagement, and facilitation
- Hospitality and service skills: creating warm, memorable experiences
- Progressive growth into Educator and eventually Senior Educator roles
Growth Pathway
- Start: Class Assistant (support role, hands-on training)
- Next: Junior Educator (leading small segments, co-hosting)
- Future: Educator / Senior Educator (leading full classes, mentoring others)
Compensation
- $10–$15 per hour (depending on experience and growth)
