We are currently seeking a Chef to join our team, which values hospitality and exceptional food. This position is based in Palmerston North and will be responsible for the preparation and cooking of meals. The successful candidate will be required to work a minimum of 30 hours and maximum 45 hours per week, rostered between Monday to Sunday including public holidays.
Job Duties:
Innovation: bringing new ideas, creativity, techniques, and food trends into menu planning
Monitoring quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation
Monitoring the quality of food taste and presentation of dishes
Collaborating with managers, dietitians, kitchen staff, and waiting staff on food preparation issues
Collaborating with the wider team to share ideas and improve customer experience and business growth
Demonstrating cooking techniques and advising staff on correct cooking procedures
Maintaining Health \& Safety and hygiene standards
Selecting and training kitchen staff
Job requirements:
A successful candidate must have 2 years of food industry work experience or Level 4 or higher qualification (Subject area flexible)
A genuine passion for food, and the wider industry
Clear and friendly communication skills with your team members
Passion to train and mentor team members coming through the kitchen.
A collaborative style, working harmoniously with the management team and floor staff.
Previous work experience working within food production environment is preferable.
You must be reliable and physically fit.
Zero tolerance of drugs at workplace.
Salary can be negotiated as per your proven experience level; it will range from $30 per hour to $35 per hour.
