About Our Clinic

We are a large clinic with a rotating staff of approximately 40 nurses and 24 vets, which includes veterinarians with advanced education in internal medicine, orthopaedics, shelter medicine, soft tissue surgery, ophthalmology and pocket pets. Accompanying this inspiring group is a diverse and collaborative nursing team with a varied skill set who motivate each other to provide high quality patient care.

Our clinic incorporates five operating theatres, eight consulting rooms, two shelter hospital wards, two private patient hospital wards, isolation ward, and a full digital imaging suite.

About the role

The Veterinary Nurse role is a qualified veterinary nurse position, who is responsible for the day-to-day care of animals in veterinary clinics operated by RSPCA Victoria, contributing to the achievement of the best possible welfare outcome for every animal in our care.

This role will see you

• Supporting daily animal care and husbandry, whilst assisting veterinarians with medication, treatments, minor procedures, and anaesthesia.
• Monitor and report animal health and behaviour concerns.
• Deliver excellent customer service and educate the public on animal welfare and RSPCA services.
• Foster a positive, inclusive team environment through effective communication and alignment with RSPCA values.

What we are looking for from you

• An experienced veterinary nurse with knowledge of animal anatomy, behaviour, disease recognition, and competency in technical skills outlined in the Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing.
• A compassionate and calm approach, especially in a fast‑paced clinical environment
• Demonstrated experience working collaboratively in a team environment.
• A wide range of availability and a willingness to be called upon, including ability to work some weekends if needed
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, organisational, and problem-solving skills

Qualifications and other requirements

• Minimum Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent
• Evidence of current tetanus vaccination required.
• Willingness to perform a National Police Check.
