Position Summary:
As a Captain, you are a key member of the Food \& Beverage team responsible for delivering exceptional dining and beverage experiences while also supporting hosting operations. You ensure smooth service flow, lead by example on the floor, and act as a bridge between guests, service staff, and management. In addition to providing attentive table service, you assist with reservations, guest seating, and front-of-house coordination. This role requires strong leadership, operational awareness, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of hospitality, professionalism, and efficiency.
Duties \& Responsibilities
Guest Relations \& Hosting
- Greet guests warmly upon arrival and escort them to their tables with professionalism and courtesy.
- Assist in managing reservations using OpenTable, including bookings, cancellations, no-shows, and walk-ins.
- Monitor table availability, manage waiting lists, and provide accurate wait time estimates.
- Recognize repeat guests and personalize service based on preferences.
- Answer telephone inquiries and provide accurate information regarding restaurant and hotel services.
Service Excellence \& Floor Leadership
- Provide exceptional table service, ensuring guest satisfaction at all times.
- Lead by example in delivering attentive, anticipatory service in line with brand standards.
- Support and guide team members during service to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Participate in daily briefings and ensure the team is informed of specials, reservations, and service updates.
- Ensure the team is well-prepared, properly groomed, and equipped for service.
Order Taking \& Coordination
- Take accurate food and beverage orders and input them correctly into the POS system.
- Communicate guest orders, including special requests or dietary requirements, to the kitchen and bar.
- Verify orders before serving and ensure timely delivery to guests.
- Make informed menu recommendations and upsell when appropriate.
Product Knowledge
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of food, beverages, ingredients, preparation methods, portion sizes, and allergens.
- Clearly explain menu items, daily specials, and beverage offerings to guests.
- Ensure menus are clean, updated, and presented according to standards.
Table Service \& Setup
- Prepare and set tables according to restaurant standards, including linens, glassware, and cutlery.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dining area throughout service.
- Clear and reset tables efficiently using proper procedures.
- Assist in rearranging tables to accommodate different party sizes and service needs.
Cash Handling \& POS Operations
- Present bills and process payments accurately, including cash and credit card transactions.
- Handle voids, discounts, and complimentary items according to company policies.
- Assist with closing reports and ensure accuracy and timeliness.
Bar \& Operational Support
- Assist with bar operations, including stocking supplies and supporting beverage service when needed.
- Ensure bar and restaurant areas are clean, stocked, and well-maintained.
- Assist with inventory control and report shortages.
Health, Safety \& Compliance
- Verify guest age for alcohol consumption and ensure responsible service of alcohol.
- Intervene professionally and discreetly with intoxicated guests to maintain a safe environment.
- Follow Food Safety and Hygiene Management System standards.
- Adhere to Fire \& Life Safety procedures and emergency protocols.
Teamwork \& Leadership
- Work collaboratively with team members and management to achieve service excellence.
- Delegate tasks effectively and ensure proper follow-up.
- Support team development through training, coaching, and sharing knowledge.
- Maintain punctuality and adhere to work schedules.
Operational Excellence
- Follow all operational checklists and report any issues to management.
- Maintain cleanliness of all service areas before, during, and after service.
- Protect and maintain restaurant assets in optimal condition.
- Assist with special projects such as menu updates, promotions, and events.
Additional Responsibilities
- Act as a role model by maintaining professional behavior, grooming, and communication.
- Handle guest complaints or service issues promptly and escalate when necessary.
- Stay updated with industry trends and continuously improve service skills.
- Support overall outlet operations and step into server or bartender duties when required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From RM2,600.00 per month
