Job Description
- Responsible for handling telephone or video calls based on demand to render the meaning of conversations in the consecutive mode of interpretation between Cantonese speakers and English speakers.
- Ability to process information quickly and concisely, recognize sensitive cultural differences, and is professional and courteous at all times.
- Use appropriate industry terminology and understand common industry procedures and practices.
- The calls may involve simple or complex, non-technical or technical subjects in Healthcare, Government, Insurance, Finance, Utilities, Travel and Hospitality, 911 emergency services, Law Enforcement, Courts, and General Business.
Job Requirements
- Native fluency in English and Cantonese
- Advanced skills in cultural dynamics (cultural implication and idiomatic expression) of both Mandarin and English
- Thorough knowledge of medical and other industry terminology; ongoing study of glossaries and training materials including scripts provided by our clients
- Completion of at least high school education onwards
- Education in languages/translation/interpretation and/or healthcare-related fields preferred
- A verifiable certificate from an approved medical interpreter certification provider would be an added advantage
- The hiring process will include written and audio language assessments
- Must be able to look at a computer screen without significant difficulty or fatigue throughout the duration of scheduled shift
- Be able to constantly operate a computer monitor, keyboard and mouse
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position during the majority of scheduled shift
Pay: RM5,000.00 - RM6,500.00 per month
