ABOUT THE ROLE

Our theory is that every top ZURU toy in the world should be succeeding globally. Right now, we still have GAPs and closing that gap is what this role exists to do.

As Business Development Executive, you will own ZURU Toys' new business engine. That means getting our proven, top-performing SKUs onto shelves where they aren't yet listed, and opening brand-new retailers who don't stock ZURU at all. You'll work a global map of white space from grocery chains in Europe missing our best-selling line, to a convenience retailer in LATAM that have never met us; build the case for ZURU, our ranges, get in front of the buyer, and pitch the opportunity.

You'll spend your time finding the opportunity, quantifying it, and creating the conversation. If you like the chase, are relentlessly organised, and enjoy selling, this is for you

You'll be based at our Auckland HQ and work daily with Commercial, Sales, Sales Ops and BD colleagues across New Zealand, India, the US, Europe and Asia.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

1. Close product-level distribution gaps

• Own the Product GAP picture across our portfolio: which top-performing SKUs are listed where, and more importantly where they aren't.
• Review and own sell-through, POS and ranging data to identify accounts and markets where a proven line is missing, and size of prize, and revenue on the table.

- Build the ranging case for each gap - comparable-account performance, category fit, planogram logic, price architecture and turn it into a pitch a buyer can say yes to.

• Work with country managers and account managers to convert those gaps into listings, then hand over cleanly once the range is in.
• Track distribution gained SKU-by-SKU, account-by-account, so we know what has actually moved.

2. Open new retailers

• Build out our New Retaliler CRM
• Prospect and qualify new retail opportunities globally; grocery, hypermarket, discount and value, variety, department stores, club and wholesale, e-commerce, toy specialists and non-traditional channels.
• Maintain the new retailer pipeline end-to-end: validate whether an opportunity is real, set the outreach approach, and keep every account moving to a next step with a date against it.
• Direct and quality-control the contact research and outreach programme run with our BD support team; the right buyer, the right category, the right pitch.
• Write and refine outreach that: cold introductions, curated category pitches, product performance stories and disciplined follow-up sequences.
• Take first conversations with buyers, distributors and brokers, qualify the fit, and escalate live opportunities to the relevant commercial owner immediately.
• Route opportunities through the right servicing model. I.E., direct vs distributor and build relationships with distributors where they're the faster path to shelf.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

• Basic understanding on how to use Excel
• Ability to look at data and pull insights
• Ability to confidently pitch and be compelling when pitching
• Motivated and willing to work beyond the 9-5
• Collaboration and communication skills to talk with multiple teams globally
