We are looking for a motivated and reliable builder to join our team. The successful applicant will be expected to work confidently both as part of a team and independently, with a strong focus on quality, safety and getting the job done to a high standard.
Key responsibilities:
- Carry out general building and carpentry work to a high standard.
- Read and understand architectural and engineering drawings.
- Set out and interpret plans and specifications.
- Work independently and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
- Take responsibility for allocated tasks and help lead other workers when required.
- Communicate and work effectively with subcontractors and other trades on site.
- Assist with coordinating day-to-day work on site.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe worksite.
- Follow building codes, health and safety requirements and company procedures.
- Use and maintain tools, machinery and equipment correctly.
- Identify and communicate any issues or problems that may affect the project.
Requirements:
- 3 years relevant experience required or 3rd Year Building and Construction Apprentice.
- Good understanding of residential building and carpentry practices.
- Ability to read and understand architectural and engineering drawings.
- Ability to work unsupervised and manage tasks efficiently.
- Ability to take initiative and lead other workers when required.
- Good communication and people skills, including the ability to engage and work effectively with subcontractors.
- Full New Zealand driver’s licence.
- Reliable vehicle or transport suitable for getting to and from jobs.
- Able to safely drive, manoeuvre and reverse a trailer.
- Own basic hand and power tools
- Reliable, punctual and hardworking.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Good attitude and willingness to learn and develop further within the trade.
This is a full time role guaranteeing 30 hours of work per week. Pay rate is based on experience and ranges between $30 and $40 hours per week. Please send through a resume to apply and provide details of your right to work in New Zealand.
