Overview
Salford professional Development Ltd (SPD) was formed as a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of Salford in 2012 and provides non-accredited learning and commercial focus to the University of Salford. SPD Group has 2 separate business units within it.
SPD focuses on continuous professional development and training courses across a range of subjects, preferably but not exclusively, aligned with programmes offered by the University of Salford. It also delivers several events and conferences and is building its international presence in conjunction with the University’s priorities.
UNITEMPS is our student employment agency which has been operating under the SPD umbrella since 2017.
Role Detail
This role centres on identifying bid opportunities, building a robust pipeline of tenders and proposals, and consistently delivering on submission deadlines and bid success targets. You will take ownership of key bid portfolios, alongside management of bid coordinators to ensure the team is applying strategic bid management principles to deepen relationships and identify new opportunities for growth. By understanding each customer’s unique requirements and anticipating evolving needs, you will be positioned to expand SPD’s bid and proposal services and drive increased successful tender outcomes across our customer base. Your proactive approach in managing bid processes, coupled with strategic proposal development, will be critical in forging lasting partnerships and unlocking untapped commercial potential.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Conduct regular bid review meetings with clients to assess impact, adapt programs, and build re-bid strategies.
· Own and expand a portfolio of key clients through proactive engagement, positioning SPD as a long-term partner in their procurement and contract strategies.
· Deepen account relationships by designing and delivering customised bid responses tailored to each client’s unique requirements, in collaboration with internal subject matter experts and external partners.
· Identify and maximise opportunities for bid optimisation and value-add strategies through tailored learning and commercial training offerings that address emerging business challenges.
· Develop and implement strategies to increase tender partnership opportunities, including identifying suitable sponsors, crafting bespoke packages, and ensuring strong stakeholder engagement and return on investment.
· Forge and nurture high-value relationships with senior stakeholders across various sectors, ensuring repeat business and expanding partnerships through insight-led conversations.
· Maintain and grow a healthy bid pipeline, providing accurate bid success forecasts and reporting on strategic opportunities aligned with SPD’s objectives.
· Work closely with legal, finance, and operational teams to co-develop compelling value propositions and ensure effective contract handover and implementation.
· Stay informed about market trends, industry developments, and policy changes to keep SPD’s bid submissions competitive and relevant.
Pay: From £35,000.00 per year
