We are launching an exciting new skewer restaurant, Charcoal Chan, on Kingsway in Glen Waverley, with our grand opening scheduled for July 2026. Our concept brings together quality ingredients, a curated beverage program, warm hospitality, and a vibrant dining atmosphere. As we prepare for opening, we are seeking a passionate, skilled, and leadership-driven Full-Time Bartender/Supervisor to anchor our Food and Beverage program and lead our team. Successful candidates may commence immediately as we complete pre‑opening training, menu development, and service preparation.
Position Overview
The Bartender/Supervisor plays a critical role in defining the beverage experience at Charcoal Chan. This position is responsible for crafting high-quality cocktails, managing bar operations, maintaining strict inventory controls, and mentoring junior bar staff. We are looking for a hospitality professional who blends technical mixology skills with a high-energy personality, ensuring the bar runs efficiently while delivering outstanding, engaging service to our guests.
Key Responsibilities
- Beverage Excellence: Prep, craft, and serve a premium selection of cocktails, beers, wines, and non-alcoholic beverages to venue standards.
- Leadership \& Mentorship: Guide, train, and support junior bartenders and floor staff on beverage knowledge, pouring techniques, and efficiency.
- Bar Operations: Manage opening and closing procedures, maintain a pristine and organized bar environment, and ensure all equipment is well-maintained.
- Stock \& Inventory Control: Assist management with stocktakes, ordering, waste minimization, and ensuring the bar is fully supplied for peak service periods.
- Guest Engagement: Provide warm, attentive, and knowledgeable service to guests seated at the bar, offering tailored recommendations.
- Compliance: Strictly uphold Victoria RSA requirements, food safety standards, and general occupational health and safety regulations.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the kitchen and floor management teams to ensure seamless service flow and pair beverages effectively with our skewer menu.
Skills \& Experience
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a high-volume bar or restaurant environment (cocktail experience is highly regarded).
- Strong knowledge of mixology, classic cocktails, spirits, wine varietals, and craft beers.
- Proven ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage multiple orders simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead and motivate a small team.
- Strong proficiency with POS systems and cash-handling procedures.
- Current Victorian RSA certificate (mandatory).
