ABOUT THE HOSPITAL:

Harley Street Specialist Hospital is an 11,100 square foot, six floor hospital building located in the heart of the Harley Street medical district. We boast the following:

  • A full operating suite, recovery bay and six recovery pods on the lower ground floor
  • A full operating suite, recovery bay with three beds and a private room on the ground floor
  • A minor ops suite (suitable for GA’s), pharmacy and imaging suite on the first floor
  • Nine beautiful, newly refurbished consulting rooms throughout the hospital

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

We are currently expanding our pool of Bank Workers - The Bank Pharmacist will support the safe and effective day-to-day running of the pharmacy under the supervision of the Superintendent Pharmacist.

You will be required to dispense prescriptions for private patients and NHS; therefore, the ideal candidate should be experienced in dispensing for both categories.

Adhering to the standards of professional practice as outlined by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).

The successful postholder will play a key role within the multi-disciplinary team, working collaboratively with other team members to define and implement developments within the service.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

Responsibilities

  • To facilitate the daily running of the pharmacy department
  • Responsible for the administration of the sale and supply of medicines
  • To screen and dispense outpatient and discharge prescriptions
  • To advise on the safe management of medicines to the hospital and its departments, whilst staying compliant with current legislation and professional standards
  • Promoting a patient focused multidisciplinary approach to the delivery of an efficient, high quality healthcare service
  • To maintain sufficient stock levels in the pharmacy and to monitor expiry dates
  • To order stock medication for all departments in the hospital and facilitate stock transfer from the pharmacy to the various departments
  • To store medicines in appropriate conditions, temperature logs are maintained, and procedures are in place for safe disposal of returned or expired medicinesThe delivery of high-quality patient care by ensuring compliance with statutory and professional requirements of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) ‘Standards for Pharmacy Professionals’
  • Responsible for managing and overseeing Controlled Drugs in line with ‘The Safer Management of Controlled Drugs’, ensuring compliance with legal and professional requirements and maintaining accurate recordsEnsure compliance with the Medicines Act 1968, Misuse of Drugs Act 1972 and Responsible Pharmacist Regulations
  • To ensure all records and documentations are maintained in accordance with the Medicines (Pharmacies) (Responsible Pharmacist) Regulations 2008To ensure that prescription records are maintained in accordance with GPhC and legal requirements
  • Undertake all training and development courses deemed appropriate for the role as specified by HSSH policy and procedure within the agreed timeline
  • Recognise own level of competence and limitations to ensure safe practice
  • Adhere to Harley Street Specialist Hospital’s policies and procedures
  • Undertake any other duties, appropriate to the grade, as may be assigned
  • Work in accordance with all pharmacy Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Support audits, stock checks, and compliance activities where require
  • Escalate incidents, near misses, errors, or risks in line with pharmacy procedures

KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING \& EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience of working within the Private Healthcare industry desirable
  • Have at least two years’ experience in either a pharmacist or Senior Pharmacy Manager role
  • Applications must be registered with a professional body i.e. GPHC
  • Pharmaceutical degree qualification or equivalent
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Demonstratable IT skills including advanced in Microsoft Office
  • Able to meet deadlines whilst paying attention to detail
  • The ability to build and develop internal and external relationships, in order to work collaboratively to foster good working relations
  • Delivery in outstanding customer service skills
  • Proactive with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances
  • Flexibility to respond to urgent requests
  • An understanding of clinical governance
  • A desire to improve processes and systems for the benefit of the patient and organisation
  • Ability to work independently using your own initiative
  • A confident individual who is well organised, self-motivated and able to prioritise
  • Able to articulate complex information clearly to colleagues and patients
  • Strong analytical skills in order to interpret technical problems
  • Excellent numerical calculation skills
  • The willingness to work flexible hours when required

Job Types: Part-time, Temporary

Pay: £25.00 per hour
