Join Charles Sturt University's Gulbali Institute as a Professor or Associate Professor of Livestock Systems and play a key role in shaping the future of Australian livestock production. Based at Wagga Wagga, you will contribute to a nationally recognised research program spanning livestock production, animal health, meat science, nutrition, genetics, pasture and grazing systems, climate resilience and sustainable farming. We are particularly interested in someone who understands regenerative production systems and can connect research with practical outcomes for producers, industry and regional communities.

This is an opportunity for a genuine people person who thrives on collaboration and building strong relationships. You will work closely with researchers, industry, government and other partners, while helping develop research capability and future leaders. A practical understanding of farm operations and experience managing farm infrastructure will complement your research expertise, enabling you to bridge the gap between innovative research and its application on the ground. You will help grow research programs, partnerships and investment while contributing to the Gulbali Institute's vision for sustainable, resilient and productive agricultural systems.

About you

  • An accomplished livestock systems or meat science researcher with national or international standing.
  • A genuine people person who builds trusted relationships across industry, research and government.
  • Practical experience managing farm infrastructure, operations or agricultural research facilities.
  • An inclusive and inspiring leader who develops people and brings multidisciplinary teams together.

About us

We are a university of the land and people of our regions. True to the character of regional Australia we have gumption, we have soul and we collaborate with others. We develop holistic, far-sighted people who help their communities grow and flourish.

The Wiradjuri phrase yindyamarra winhanganha means the wisdom of respectfully knowing how to live well in a world worth living in. This phrase represents who we are at Charles Sturt University – our ethos. It comes from traditional Indigenous Australian knowledge, but it also speaks to the mission of universities – to develop and spread wisdom to make the world a better place.

Harnessing technology, we thrive as a distributed yet connected community, welcoming and engaging with people across Australia and the world.
