Assistant Resident Engineer

The Assistant Resident Engineer (Utilities) will support the Resident Engineer in supervising construction activities related to utilities infrastructure works, ensuring compliance with project specifications, contract requirements, quality standards, and health \& safety regulations. The role involves coordination with contractors, authorities, and stakeholders to ensure timely and successful project delivery.

• Assist the Resident Engineer in managing daily construction supervision activities for utilities works.

• Supervise installation and construction of utilities including but not limited to:

  • Water supply networks
  • Sewerage and stormwater systems
  • Irrigation networks
  • District cooling / utility corridors
  • Electrical and telecom ducting (as applicable)
  • Monitor contractor performance to ensure work is executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and method statements.
  • Review and verify shop drawings, material submittals, and inspection requests.
  • Coordinate site inspections and ensure compliance with quality assurance and quality control procedures.
  • Ensure HSE standards are implemented and maintained on site.
  • Support progress monitoring, reporting, and preparation of site records.
  • Coordinate with relevant Abu Dhabi authorities and stakeholders for approvals and inspections.
  • Assist in resolving technical issues and site-related challenges.
  • Verify measurements and support the review of contractor payment applications.
  • Ensure timely completion of snagging and close-out activities.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.

Experience

• Minimum 5–8 years of relevant experience in construction supervision.
• Mandatory experience working with construction supervision consultants on infrastructure and utilities projects.
• Proven experience on utilities projects in the UAE, preferably Abu Dhabi.
• Familiarity with local authority requirements (e.g., ADSSC, ADDC, ITC, municipality standards).

Skills \& Competencies

• Strong understanding of utilities construction methodologies.
• Knowledge of FIDIC contracts and supervision practices.
• Good coordination and communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Strong reporting and documentation skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office and engineering documentation systems.
