Assistant Manager - Bus Operations
Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Daily Operations Management
a. Oversee and coordinate daily bus operations, including driver deployment and operational scheduling.
b. Ensure all scheduled trips are operated efficiently and in accordance with approved service schedules.
c. Monitor operational disruptions and implement immediate corrective and preventive actions.
d. Ensure smooth operational coordination between depots, terminals, and operational teams.
e. Support continuity of operations during manpower shortages, breakdowns, or service disruptions.
f. Support operational decision-making during service disruptions, emergencies, or high-risk operational situations to maintain service continuity and public safety.

Driver \& Manpower Management
a. Supervise driver attendance, discipline, conduct, and overall work performance.
b. Ensure drivers comply with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
c. Support driver training, competency assessments, and performance improvement initiatives.
d. Assist in manpower planning and resource optimization to meet operational requirements.
e. Recommend corrective or disciplinary actions where necessary in accordance with company policies.
f. Escalate operational, disciplinary, or safety-related concerns to Management where immediate intervention or further action is required.

Safety, Compliance \& Risk Management
a. Ensure compliance with all applicable operational and safety regulations including APAD, JPJ, DOSH, and ICOP requirements.
b. Monitor compliance with contractual and operational obligations under SBST, ISBSF, BPS, Bus College, and Chartered Services programmes.
c. Coordinate incident, accident, and emergency response management including reporting and investigation processes.
d. Ensure operational records and documentation are accurate, complete, and audit-ready.
e. Support implementation of safety initiatives and operational risk mitigation measures.
f. Ensure operational decisions prioritize passenger safety, regulatory compliance, and public service reliability at all times.
g. Ensure all operational activities are conducted in accordance with company safety policies and public transport operational standards.

Fleet \& Maintenance Coordination
a. Coordinate with the Maintenance and Workshop team to ensure fleet availability and operational readiness.
b. Monitor preventive maintenance and servicing schedules to minimize operational disruptions.
c. Coordinate breakdown response and recovery actions to ensure minimal service interruption.
d. Monitor vehicle defects and ensure timely follow-up on corrective actions.

Customer Service \& Terminal Operations
a. Ensure smooth terminal operations and effective passenger flow management.
b. Monitor service delivery standards and customer service quality across operations.
c. Handle escalated customer complaints and ensure timely resolution.

d. Support initiatives to improve customer satisfaction and operational service quality.

KPI Monitoring \& Performance Management
a. Monitor and analyze operational KPIs including:
i. On-time performance
ii. Trip completion rate
iii. Fleet availability
iv. Driver attendance
v. Service reliability
vi. Customer complaints
vii. Ridership performance
viii. Service response time
b. Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports for management review.
c. Analyze operational trends and recommend improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and service delivery.
d. Support reporting requirements for APAD and all related government transport programmes.
e. Prepare and submit operational analysis reports including ridership, manpower headcount, fuel management, maintenance, spare parts \& cost breakdown analysis.

Operational Planning \& Continuous Improvement
a. Assist in operational planning and implementation of operational improvement initiatives.
b. Support review and enhancement of operational SOPs and workflow processes.
c. Identify operational gaps and recommend practical solutions to improve service performance.
d. Participate in operational audits, compliance reviews, and continuous improvement programmes.

Stakeholder Management \& Liaison
a. Liaise with internal departments including Maintenance, Human Resources, Finance, and
Administration to support operational requirements.
b. Coordinate with external authorities and stakeholders including APAD, JPJ, local authorities (PBT), and government agencies.
c. Support government-related transport projects, initiatives, and compliance matters.
d. Represent the Operations Department during meetings, inspections, and operational engagements where required.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Transportation, Logistics, Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of working experience in transport or bus operations management.
  • Experience in SBST, ISBSF, or government-related transport operations will be an added advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of:
  • Bus scheduling
  • Fleet operations
  • Driver supervision
  • Public transport compliance requirements
  • Familiar with APAD, JPJ, DOSH, and ICOP operational regulations.
  • Experience in KPI monitoring, operational reporting, and service performance analysis.
  • Possess a valid driving license. PSV License will be an added advantage.
  • Strong leadership, communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Willing to support operational requirements beyond normal working hours, including during emergencies or operational disruptions when required.

Pay: RM2,000.00 - RM3,000.00 per month
