We are currently looking for a passionate and highly skilled Assistant Head Sommelier to support the leadership of our wine program and help elevate the beverage experience at JNcQUOI Asia. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic hospitality group and contribute to a wine offering that perfectly complements one of Lisbon’s most distinctive Asian fine dining destinations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support in the daily management of the wine program, ensuring an exceptional and memorable guest experience;
  • Assist in maintaining and developing a world-class wine list that complements the restaurant’s Asian cuisine, balancing classic references with exciting discoveries;
  • Support wine purchasing, inventory management, and supplier relationships to ensure an efficient and well-curated cellar;
  • Provide expert wine recommendations and food pairings, enhancing the dining experience through thoughtful and innovative combinations;
  • Assist in training and mentoring the sommelier and front-of-house teams, promoting a strong wine culture and service excellence;
  • Support the organisation of wine tastings, producer events, and exclusive guest experiences;
  • Ensure proper wine storage, cellar management, stock control, and cost efficiency;
  • Collaborate closely with the Head Sommelier, Executive Chef, and restaurant management team to continuously enhance the beverage offering.

Profile:

  • Proven experience as an Assistant Head Sommelier, Senior Sommelier, or Sommelier in luxury hospitality or fine dining;
  • Strong knowledge of international wines and wine regions, with an appreciation for pairing wines with Asian cuisines considered a strong advantage;
  • Professional sommelier certification (e.g., WSET, Court of Master Sommeliers, or equivalent) is highly valued;
  • Passion for hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Strong team player with the ability to support and develop colleagues;
  • Fluency in English and Portuguese (additional languages are a plus);
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and committed to excellence.
