Benton County is seeking an Assistant County Counsel to join our team.
Under the direction of the County Counsel, represents the County and provides legal counsel to various County offices and departments, elected officials and boards and committees requiring knowledge of various areas of law including, but not limited to, contracts and procurement, litigation, tort, labor and employment, land use and real property law, tax assessment and collection, law enforcement, construction, health and health clinics, public record and meeting laws.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Assistant County Counsel:
The following minimum qualifications are required for this position:* A minimum of three (2) years of experience in Oregon Municipal Law * Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited school of law * Active member in good standing of the Oregon State Bar by time of hire
Special Requirements:* Obtain LEDS certification and ODL in the first 30 days of employment. * This position requires driving and may require use of personal vehicle. * Hiring is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check. * Adheres to County and departmental policies and procedures as well as safe work practices, policies and procedures. * Performs in compliance with the Oregon Rules of Professional Conduct and Oregon State Bar directives. * Develops and maintains effective working relationships with other staff, public officials, the general public and representatives of other agencies. * This position also requires a commitment to professionalism, attention to detail and ability to exercise a significant degree of independent judgment and discretion on a regular basis.

Annual Salary Range: Assistant County Counsel: $107,278 - $146,288 * You will be eligible to receive a salary raise at 6 months, then again at 12 months, as long as your performance is in good standing. If, for example, your starting pay is $126,783.49, your first raise will be to $132,635.78 and your second to $138,402.58. * Salary Placement*
