Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Assistant Controller to support our financial department. The Assistant Controller is responsible for supporting the financial operations of the organization, including financial reporting, general ledger maintenance, compliance, and internal controls. This role assists the Director of Finance in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data, managing month-end and year-end closings, and overseeing accounting procedures.
Additionally, the Assistant Controller will prepare and analyze financial and operational reports, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and providing insights to support business decisions. This position will also play a key role in budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling to drive strategic planning and performance management.
Here is what a typical day looks like!
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with IFRS.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
- Prepare and analyze financial and operational reports, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Drive insights from financial data to support strategic business decisions.
- Prepare and/or review financial reports and provide variance analysis on budget vs. actual performance.
- Support financial review meetings with Operations by providing insights, analysis and reporting.
- Work collaboratively with business stakeholders ensuring alignment with operational financial performance.
- Communicate financial data clearly to support informed decision-making.
- Perform general ledger activities, including reconciliations, journal entries, and investigating and resolving variances or adjustments.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation.
- Assist in the preparation of ad-hoc reporting and analysis.
- Other duties may be required to meet company objectives.

- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field (CPA or demonstrate working toward designation)
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP/IFRS.
- Understanding of Canadian tax compliance and provisioning preferred.
- Experience in preparing and analyzing financial and operational reports.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in excel.
- A results-driven mindset with a commitment to excellence and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- A strong sense of ownership, accountability, and the ability to drive tasks to completion.
