Job Description

Expected Salary Range: $90810 - $113512 Annually

Target Variable Performance Pay: 8%

The salary range shown above reflects the expected compensation for this position. The final salary offered will be determined based on a holistic assessment of the candidate’s experience, education, training, and alignment with the role’s requirements. For positions covered by a collective agreement, placement within the range will follow the applicable step or classification.

The Asset Investment Analyst will provide a wide range of engineering support services that will ensure technical soundness, reliability, safety and cost effectiveness of the utility and its Electrical Distribution Power System. The Asset Investment Analyst is responsible for data management, data analytics and business process improvements related to Grid Operational Technologies and Reliability Reporting. The incumbent will play a critical role in shaping SCADA, NMS, and other critical application enhancement and upgrade activities through gap analysis, business process planning and stakeholder collaboration.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Play significant role in the strategic development of the Operational Technologies roadmap across Distribution Grid Operations by leading working groups across business units and senior management to drive business process improvements and system implementation initiatives
  • Perform analysis of process and system changes to identify and communicate impacts
  • Assist with building and maintaining the SCADA database and displays
  • Develop process maps and workflow visualizations to support strategic decision making
  • Perform data profiling to produce data quality metrics and assess associated risks involved in integrating or converting data for new applications
  • Maintains and further develops databases or decision support tools and systems
  • Performs trend analyses of equipment data and determines appropriate actions to improve and optimize capital and operations programs
  • Support reliability reporting across Distribution Grid Operations by collecting, analyzing outage information and providing recommendations for improvements
  • Provide timely technical support and consultation, demonstrate effective project management and process efficiencies; review, develop and/or present business proposals, plans, designs, processes, operational procedures and practices
  • Acts as departmental subject matter expert for departmental, divisional and/or corporate initiatives

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering preferred
  • Three (3) – Five (5) years’ of data mining including programming, process optimization, analysis for business projects, identification of areas for improvement and development of new initiatives
  • Strong knowledge of Operational Technology tools such as SCADA, NMS, Energy Center, PI, OUA
  • Knowledge of reliability reporting, control room workflow and utility work protection code preferred
  • Solid understanding of relational database systems, possess the ability to transform raw data in different formats into various analytical reports Knowledge of Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and Process Mining is preferred
  • Knowledge of Geographic Information System
  • Knowledge of and experience in electrical utility preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge/training in asset management practices is an asset
  • Specific knowledge in power systems, electrical distribution, and computer applications is an asset Knowledge of Alteryx or Tableau for data analysis is an asset
  • Fluent in the application of information technology, such as general office software, engineering records, and specialized engineering application software

This position is based in a hybrid environment allowing for remote work two days per week, based on business needs. Employees will be required to come onsite Tuesday to Thursday. You are expected to live in Ontario and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.
