We are looking for a Retail Store Manager to join our busy retail stores in Auckland. This business is open 7 days a week and the role requires working a variable roster from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm between different stores in Auckland.
About the role
This is a permanent full-time opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and friendly team where excellence, success, and people are valued and rewarded. The job involves having the capability to work with and lead a team on a variety of tasks throughout the day. You will use your managerial experience to successfully run the store and will have full decision-making authority over budgeting, staff management, pricing, purchasing, and local marketing initiatives in line with company objectives. This is largely a people and sales focussed role whilst managing all operational elements of the store to ensure best practice.
As part of this role, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards (but not limited to):
● Oversee the day-to-day operations of the store, ensuring smooth functioning, exceptional customer service, and the sale of products.
● Develop and implement strategies to maximise sales and profitability, including setting sales targets, analysing sales data, budgeting for the store and identifying areas for improvement.
● Manage finances, including store budgets, cost control and revenue forecast, and generation accountability.
● Monitor sales KPIs, prepare business performance reports, and initiate improvement plans based on sales and market trends.
● Lead recruitment, onboarding, performance reviews, disciplinary processes and exit interviews for staff.
● Conduct staff training sessions on customer service, upselling and stock rotation, and wastage reduction.
● Mentor and motivate retail staff members to deliver best performance and achieve sales goals.
● Create staff schedules and ensure adequate coverage during peak hours, and ensure staff hours are accurately recorded on a daily basis.
● Develop and implement store-level operational policies, merchandising standards, and pricing strategies to optimise store performance and meet compliance requirements.
● Manage inventory levels, replenishment, merchandising, and financial transactions to optimise product availability and presentation.
● Develop and execute strategic and tactical plans such as purchasing and marketing policies, promoting and advertising goods, and setting product prices aligned with company goals.
● Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
● Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and key external stakeholders,
including negotiating supply terms and resolving commercial issues to ensure consistent
product availability and gross margin optimisation.
● Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to identify opportunities and threats and manage product range.
● Coordinate local marketing initiatives, in-store events, and seasonal campaigns to drive foot traffic and increase sales
Qualification, Experience and Attributes Required
● At least 3 years of work experience in a Managerial role(s).
● A relevant level 5 or above qualification is preferred, although not essential.
● Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
● Excellent computer skills, mainly in the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Powerpoint) and Google Suite (Google Docs, Sheets, Drive).
● Solid understanding of sales and customer service principles.
● Ability to analyse sales data and implement effective strategies.
● Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and public holidays as required.
● Ability to work on feet for extended periods.
● Class 1 New Zealand Driving Licence

Pay \& Benefits
● Full-time permanent employment.
● Minimum of 30 hours/week guaranteed.
● Pay rate ranges between $35/hour - $38/hour.
