WHO WE ARE – Cornerstone Builders Ltd is a successful forward-thinking Design-Build Construction company with over 50 years of expertise in the Design and Construction of Retail, Commercial and Industrial Developments in Ontario and across Canada for select clients.

As we continue to grow, we are looking to add to our team highly motivated individuals with the drive to succeed. We are seeking a mid-level Architectural Designer role to lead the preparation of technical drawings and documentation. In this role, you will be involved from initial customer meetings through the design process including the creation of concept development, renderings and technical detailing of the project. This position is not limited to Architectural planning and detailing, you will also be engaged in civil site design, structural design, foundation design and related disciplines.

Experience in Architectural / Civil design technology and construction are all assets. Strong organizational, computer and communication skills are required. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced designer with an ICI background and a desire to grow within a Design-Build environment.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

• Preparation of Design drawings, proposal, construction drawings and documentation to coordinate with a multidisciplinary team consisting of Engineers, Architects, Civil/Architectural designers, draftspersons and our construction team.
• Preparation of concept drawings and renderings to assist in sales initiatives
• Ensuring the design complies with local, provincial and federal codes, standards, regulations and by-laws.
• Leading the design process and creating solutions that align and exceed client expectations, ensuring the project intent is captured from the feasibility phase, design phase and through the construction phase.
• Review and coordinate information from Architectural, Structural and Civil including Mechanical, Electrical, Fire protection, utilities and process systems and their integration in the final Design-Build documents.
• Attend project sites and participate in meetings with clients, consultants, contractors and suppliers.
• Coordinate with our project managers and site supers to assist with the technical aspects of the project.
• Complete closeout documentation and OEM manuals including integrated testing and commissioning reports.

· Travel provincially and nationally for select clients.

EXPERIENCE AND TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

· 5 to 7 years of experience preferred

· College diploma or degree in Architectural or Civil Engineering technology, or Construction program completed and in good standing.

· Knowledge and familiarization of current industry software suites: AutoCAD, Revit, Sketchup, Lumion, Office, Bluebeam is an asset

· Affiliation with professional organizations i.e., OAA (LTOAA), PEO (LET), OACETT (CET) are recognized and continuing professional development is supported.

· Design experience in the construction industry with emphasis on commercial / industrial (ICI) construction sector including installations for food grade and process facility familiarization would be an asset.

· Strong understanding of building systems, materials and construction methods.

· Knowledge and understanding of the Ontario Building Code and applicable codes as they apply to projects.

· Knowledge of Planning and Site development regulations associated to developments including applicable law and local municipal by-laws.

· Ability to understand and interpret information on all facets of Design and Construction drawings for accuracy and completeness

· Excellent interpersonal skills and communication with others.

· Providing a project portfolio highlighting current and past work is an asset for the interview process

POSITION:

· Position: Permanent – Full time position

· Salary: Salary and profit-sharing commensurate on experience and performance
