Aluminum Estimator \& Quality Control Engineer Job Purpose
The Aluminum Estimator \& QC Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate project estimations, reviewing technical drawings, calculating material requirements, and ensuring quality control during fabrication and before dispatch from the factory. The role ensures cost accuracy, material optimization, and compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities 1. Estimation \& Costing
- Prepare and Review architectural drawings, shop drawings, and project specifications.
- Prepare detailed material take-off (MTO) for aluminum systems.
- Calculate project costs including materials, fabrication, and installation estimates.
- Prepare accurate quotations and pricing for projects.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities without affecting quality or specifications.
2. Material Calculation \& Procurement Support
- Calculate exact quantities of aluminum profiles, accessories, glass, and hardware required for each project.
- Prepare material request sheets and submit them to the procurement department.
- Coordinate with the purchase/material controller to ensure timely ordering of materials.
- Verify material compatibility with system requirements and project specifications.
3. Technical Drawings \& Coordination
- Review and understand shop drawings and fabrication drawings.
- Coordinate with design and production teams for any clarification or modification.
- Ensure drawings are aligned with project specifications and site requirements.
- Support the preparation of fabrication details when required.
4. Quality Control (QC)
- Inspect aluminum works during fabrication in the factory.
- Ensure all products meet approved drawings and quality standards.
- Perform final inspection before dispatch to site.
- Identify defects, non-conformities, and report them for correction.
- Ensure compliance with company quality procedures and client requirements.
5. Production Coordination
- Follow up production progress with factory team.
- Ensure materials and drawings are correctly implemented during manufacturing.
- Communicate any technical issues or changes immediately to management.
- Support smooth workflow between estimation, production, and installation teams.
Requirements
- Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years experience in aluminum fabrication industry.
- Strong knowledge of aluminum systems (Curtain Wall, Doors, Windows, Cladding).
- Experience in estimation, material take-off, and costing.
- Ability to read and understand shop drawings and technical drawings.
- Strong QC background in fabrication or aluminum factory environment.
- Good knowledge of aluminum profiles, accessories, and hardware systems.
- Proficiency in Excel and estimation software is an advantage.
