Overview

The mission of Jubilee Park \& Community Center (Jubilee) is to be a catalyst for community revitalization and enrichment in the Southeast Dallas/Fair Park neighborhood. The agency provides free multi-generational services to families living in the 62-block neighborhood of Jubilee Park and surrounding areas, a part of Dallas, which has long been under-resourced. Founded in 1997, Jubilee has grown into a campus, which includes a community center, resource center, Head Start facility, Early Head Start facility, senior housing complex, a Clinic, and a 3-acre park. Jubilee has also worked closely with residents to identify five key pillars that form our work and reflect the community's greatest challenges and opportunities. Those pillars are Safety, Health, Housing, Education/Workforce, and Opportunity.

The Afterschool Student Van Driver is a part-time position part of Jubilee’s Out of School Time (OST) team. The Afterschool Student Van Driver is responsible for safely transporting students to and from designated locations each weekday afternoon. This position requires a dependable, safety-focused individual who is committed to maintaining a secure and supportive environment for children. The regular work schedule for this role is Monday–Friday from 3:00pm to 6:00pm, though there may be times when flexing hours to accommodate events may be required. This position reports to the Director of OST Programs.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Safely transport students to and from school or program locations following established routes and schedules.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the van is in safe operating condition.
  • Work with co-pilot to ensure all students are properly seated and secured with seat belts at all times.
  • Maintain order and appropriate behavior during student transport.
  • Follow all traffic laws, safety regulations, and organizational transportation policies.
  • Maintain accurate transportation logs, attendance records, and incident reports as required.
  • Communicate effectively with Jubilee staff regarding pick-up/drop-off times or concerns.
  • Report vehicle maintenance needs, safety concerns, or student incidents promptly to a supervisor.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the vehicle interior.
  • Ensure timely arrival and departure according to the daily schedule.
  • Participate in professional development and training activities and staff meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned by Director of OST Programs.

Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record for a minimum of the past 7 years.
  • Minimum 25 years of age requirement as determined by insurance regulations.
  • Previous experience driving children or working with youth preferred.
  • Ability to pass background check and any required child abuse clearances.
  • Ability to pass drug screening.
  • Strong knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving practices.
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and respond appropriately in emergency situations.
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
  • Bilingual in Spanish, preferred.
  • Conduct oneself in a professional manner/demeanor
