ROLE: Advanced Specialist, AI Architect
Location: Spain (Remote) or Poland (Remote)
Role Overview
The Advanced Specialist, AI Architect will be responsible for helping define and drive the strategy, design, and delivery of AI-powered solutions that support Pearson's business and product objectives. This role sits at the intersection of software architecture, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies, ensuring scalable, secure, and responsible AI systems are designed and implemented across the organization.
The AI Architect will act as a technical leader and trusted advisor, working closely with engineering, product, and business stakeholders to shape the AI architecture roadmap, evaluate emerging technologies, and guide the adoption of AI capabilities across multiple products and platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with senior business and technology stakeholders to define MVP scopes and design AI solutions aligned with enterprise architecture strategy.
- Define architectural patterns, standards, and best practices for AI and Generative AI applications, ensuring scalability, security, and maintainability.
- Lead the design and implementation of AI-powered systems, including LLM-based applications, AI agents, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and machine learning solutions.
- Evaluate and recommend AI technologies, frameworks, and platforms, balancing innovation with business value and operational excellence.
- Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance to software engineers, AI engineers, and cross-functional teams.
- Facilitate collaboration across multidisciplinary teams, translating complex business requirements into scalable AI solutions.
- Establish governance practices for responsible AI development, including security, privacy, monitoring, and model lifecycle management.
- Support experimentation, prototyping, and proof-of-concept initiatives to validate emerging AI capabilities and accelerate innovation.
Required Qualifications \& Skills
- Significant experience in software architecture, AI engineering, machine learning, or related technical leadership roles.
- Strong understanding of modern AI architectures, including Large Language Models (LLMs), AI agents, RAG frameworks, vector databases, and model orchestration platforms.
- Experience designing and deploying AI solutions in cloud environments, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP), AWS, or Azure.
- Proficiency in Python and experience working with modern AI frameworks and tooling.
- Experience integrating AI capabilities into enterprise-scale applications and platforms.
- Understanding of MLOps, model deployment, monitoring, and AI lifecycle management practices.
- Experience leading technical initiatives and mentoring engineers.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Generative AI product development and production deployments.
- Knowledge of responsible AI, governance, security, and compliance considerations.
- Experience evaluating and adopting emerging AI technologies in enterprise environments.
- Familiarity with educational technology, learning platforms, or digital product ecosystems.
