Role OverviewPlanet Bee Foundation seeks an organized, relationship-focused contractor to support the coordination and growth of the Adopt-a-Hive Program. This flexible, part-time role helps strengthen communication among Planet Bee, corporate partners, and professional beekeepers while supporting a positive partner experience and high-quality program implementation.

The Adopt-a-Hive Program \& Partnerships Coordinator will help track program needs, coordinate updates, support beekeeper communication, prepare partner materials, and identify opportunities to improve partner engagement. This role may also support light corporate partnership outreach and stewardship in collaboration with Planet Bee leadership.

The ideal contractor has knowledge of honey bees or beekeeping, strong communication and organizational skills, and comfort working with both beekeepers and corporate partners. This role is a good fit for someone who enjoys relationship-building, problem-solving, and supporting mission-driven environmental programs in a flexible, part-time capacity.

Key Responsibilities

Adopt-a-Hive Program Coordination

  • Serve as a key communication contact for Adopt-a-Hive partner sites, helping ensure timely, professional, and mission-aligned communication.
  • Coordinate program timelines, partner updates, supply needs, deliverables, and follow-up items.
  • Track program materials, hive-related updates, partner needs, and basic program records.
  • Prepare brief reports, updates, and summaries for corporate partners and Planet Bee leadership.
  • Help identify opportunities to strengthen the partner experience and support long-term engagement.

Beekeeper Coordination \& Program Support

  • Communicate with Planet Bee’s network of professional beekeepers to support hive updates, site needs, seasonal considerations, and program quality.
  • Help facilitate communication between beekeepers, corporate partners, and Planet Bee staff.
  • Support resolution of routine operational issues related to hive care, site logistics, supplies, scheduling, partner expectations, or beekeeper communication.
  • Share relevant hive health, seasonal, capacity, or site considerations with Planet Bee leadership.
  • Support onboarding or coordination of new beekeepers as the program grows.

Corporate Partnership Support

  • Support light outreach, follow-up, and stewardship activities related to Adopt-a-Hive corporate partnerships.
  • Help prepare partner-facing materials, meeting notes, updates, and next steps.
  • Assist in identifying potential corporate partners, especially those aligned with sustainability, CSR, ESG, employee engagement, workplace experience, and community relations.
  • Share partner feedback, market insights, and growth opportunities with Planet Bee leadership.
  • Collaborate with Planet Bee leadership on practical recommendations for program growth and partner engagement.

Qualifications

Required

  • Knowledge of honey bee biology, hive management, and beekeeping best practices.
  • Strong organizational, administrative, and follow-through skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience managing partner, client, donor, sponsor, vendor, or stakeholder relationships.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage details within a limited weekly time commitment.
  • Comfort communicating with both beekeepers and corporate partners.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace, spreadsheets, and basic reporting tools.
  • Professional demeanor, sound judgment, reliability, and attention to detail.
  • Interest in environmental education, pollinator conservation, sustainability, and mission-driven partnerships.

Preferred

  • Experience with beekeeping operations, pollinator programs, environmental education, conservation, agriculture, or sustainability initiatives.
  • Experience in nonprofit programs, corporate partnerships, sponsorship, fundraising, sales, or business development.
  • Experience preparing partner reports, impact updates, program summaries, or stewardship materials.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems or partnership management tools.
  • Familiarity with Bay Area corporate partners, sustainability networks, ESG/CSR leaders, or environmental education organizations.

Time \& Structure

This is a remote/hybrid independent contractor role averaging approximately 4–5 hours per week. Work may include partner communication, beekeeper coordination, program tracking, supply coordination, reporting, light outreach, and occasional local meetings, partner visits, or events in the San Francisco Bay Area. Responsibilities will be project-based and prioritized in collaboration with the Executive Director or designated Planet Bee staff. Hours may vary slightly depending on program needs, partner communication, reporting deadlines, hive-related issues, and partnership opportunities.

Growth Potential

This role may expand over time as Planet Bee’s Adopt-a-Hive Program and corporate partnership portfolio grow. Depending on organizational needs, funding, and contractor capacity, future expansion could include additional hours, broader partner stewardship, expanded beekeeper coordination, or increased partnership development support.

Compensation

This is an independent contractor position compensated at $45/hour.
