An opportunity exists within the Diagnostic Genetics Department for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual who will provide a key clerical support service for the department.
This position will require an individual with excellent secretarial and administrative skills, providing vital support for the many scientists and technicians working within the department.
This is a 1 year fixed term, fulltime position working 40 hours per week.

About the Team/Service/ Location
LabPLUS is an IANZ accredited medical laboratory and is one of New Zealand's premier laboratories. We offer a comprehensive pathology service for Auckland City Hospital, Starship Childrens Hospital, National Women's Health, and the Greenlane Clinical Centre. The Diagnostic Genetics laboratory provides a comprehensive service using both cytogenetic and molecular genetics techniques enabling us to resolve clinical diagnoses with a genetic component. We analyse pre- and post-natal samples, providing predictive testing, and confirmation of a clinical diagnosis in the management of a spectrum of both malignant and inherited disorders. Our portfolio of tests is constantly being upgraded with a view to reducing turnaround times and enhancing our tests to take into account new technologies and approaches in line with international clinical and research data.

About you
To be successful in this role you will have the following skills and attributes: -
Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels Including the ability to clearly communicate with medical professionals and external laboratories.
Previous healthcare experience and knowledge of medical terminology is essential.
A high level of data entry accuracy and typing skills is expected
LIS proficiency, uses Laboratory Information Systems (e.g. Delphic explorer, Delphic AP), experience registering samples.
Experience of Microsoft Office, FPIM and Delphic computer applications would be an advantage.
Flexibility to suit the service demands with the ability to prioritise and deliver to deadlines.
Process-driven mind set, identifies workflow issues and supports continuous improvement, while maintaining standard operating procedures and meeting quality standards.
