Role Objectives:
To provide efficient, accurate, and commercially focused financial support to the organisation, ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the finance function. This is a hands-on senior role within a growing SME, requiring strong technical expertise and commercial awareness to support strategic decision-making. The post-holder will help develop the finance function, maintain effective financial controls and procedures, deputise for the Finance Director when required, and deliver high-quality financial and administrative support across the business.
Main Responsibilities:
· Overseeing the month-end close process, ensuring all entries, reconciliations, and reporting deadlines are completed accurately and on time
· Maintaining accurate financial records, supporting documentation, and robust financial controls across all business areas
· Managing weekly cash flow forecasting and reporting to the Finance Director
· Supervising the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, including invoice processing, supplier payments, receipts, reconciliations, and expense management
· Managing the credit control process, monitoring debtor days, chasing outstanding payments, and escalating issues where necessary
· Overseeing monthly payroll processing and ensuring compliance with PAYE, NIC, pension, and HMRC obligations
· Responding to supplier, customer, and external stakeholder queries in a professional and timely manner
· Supporting the continuous improvement of finance systems, processes, and procedures
· Providing general financial, administrative, and operational support to the finance team and wider business
Personal Requirements:
· Previous experience in an accounts administrative role
· Good understanding of finance and bookkeeping processes
· Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and accounting software
· Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
· Proactive self-starter who can work with minimal supervision
· Strong communication and organisational skills, both written and verbal
· Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to contribute to strategic discussions
· Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
· AAT qualification or finance-related training is advantageous but not essential
· Great enthusiasm and attitude for the role, as well as a high level of resilience
· Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment
· Trustworthy, discreet and professional in handling sensitive financial information
Pay and Benefits
· Salary:starting from £30,000 per annum – dependent on skills and experience
· 20 days of annual leave
