We invite applications for the position of Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Information Science and Technology,
Hokkaido University as follows.
Assistant Professor (5-year term. Renewal may be possible based on performance review; if renewed, the term shall be

Research Fields : bio-instrumentation, mechanobiology, cellular and tissue engineering
In the Laboratory of Cell and Tissue Engineering, the successful candidate will engage in the development of next-
generation bio-measurement technologies integrating advanced scanning probe microscopy with information science
approaches, and will elucidate mechanobiological phenomena in cell biology, embryonic development, and tissue
morphogenesis. The candidate will also promote research applying these findings to regenerative medicine engineering
and related fields.
The candidate will share teaching responsibilities (lectures, exercises, laboratory work, and student supervision) in the
Graduate School of Information Science and Technology and the Department of Information and Electronic Engineering,
Faculty of Engineering. In particular, the candidate will actively provide research guidance and advice for undergraduate
graduation theses and graduate master's/doctoral theses in cooperation with the supervising faculty. The candidate may
also be assigned general education courses (liberal arts, etc.).
(Scope of change) Duties as determined by the University.
Biomaterials and Biomechanics, Exercise in Applied Mathematics I, Exercise in Informatics and Electronics,
Bioengineering and Bioinformatics Laboratory I·II
(1) PhD at the time of appointment,
(2) Outstanding achievements and publications in the research fields listed above, and strong motivation for education,
research and other duties related to the management of the Faculty of Information Science and Technology,
(3) Ability to give lectures listed above in Japanese and in English,
(4) Ability to handle organization management in Japanese,

Determined in accordance with the National University Corporation Hokkaido University Salary Rules for Faculty
Subject to Annual Salary System.
The probation period is three months.
Discretionary labor system for professional work based on the employee’s agreement (*) or Fixed working hours system.
The working hours for a day are deemed to be 7 hours and 45 minutes.
