Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the Refractionist contributes to the implementation of the mandate and the 10-year strategy of Humanity & Inclusion in the country where s/he is based. The audiometric technician contributes to the implementation of his/her project, ensuring the optimal quality.

Responsibilities:
Mission 1: Operational implementation
Undertake eye assessments, measure visual acuity, and provide corrective spectacles.
Collaborate with the rehabilitation officer and clinician to identify and assess individuals with disabilities requiring eye care services in HI’s operational areas in Cox’s Bazar.
Conduct comprehensive eye assessments, including accurate measurement of visual acuity and refractive error, to determine appropriate spectacle prescriptions based on individual needs.
Measure refractive error and determine lens power accurately for spectacle prescription.
Identify individuals with low vision, provide primary eye care services, and refer cases of ocular disease to appropriate healthcare professionals for advanced management.
Plan and implement eye care outreach campaigns according to the scheduled field plan.
Provide and fit suitable spectacles, ensuring all technical checks are completed. Educate beneficiaries and their caregivers/families on proper usage, maintenance, repair, and replacement of the spectacles.
Ensure all procedures are conducted with attention to medical contraindications and safety precautions, in line with the "Do No Harm" principle.
Adhere to established policies and procedures outlined by the Rehabilitation Technical Unit (TU) and HI management related to eye care delivery.
Maintain accurate and confidential individual records for each service recipient, documenting assessments, services provided, and follow-up actions.
Conduct periodic follow-up visits to assess the effectiveness of the spectacles, monitor usage, and determine any additional needs.
Monitor and evaluate the performance of partners and vendors involved in eye care services, including the quality and utilization of diagnostic equipment.
Undertake any other responsibilities related to eye care services as assigned by HI management, in alignment with project goals.
Procurement:
Support the planning and provide technical advice on the installation of eye equipment in outreach camps.
Assist in and follow up on the procurement processes for eye equipment and related materials in accordance with organizational procedures.
Contribute to the preparation of proposals for eye diagnostic tools, including specifications, purchasing requirements, and quality assurance of materials.
Coordination with Rehabilitation Team:
Maintain effective coordination with rehabilitation therapists to ensure integrated service delivery.
Collaborate closely with the rehabilitation team to support patient treatment, follow-up, and evaluation processes.
Refer project participants to appropriate services or higher-level care when advanced management is required
Reporting and capitalization
Prepare and submit regular activity and progress reports in alignment with donor and organizational requirements, as requested by management and the technical unit.
Document and produce case stories to highlight outcomes, challenges, and impact, as per project and reporting needs.
Mission 2: Emergency Preparedness and Response
Contribute to the program’s emergency preparedness initiatives, and in an emergency situation, adapt his/her working arrangements in order to contribute to an effective humanitarian response from HI.
Perform any other related activities as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
