Education
  • A graduate or higher degree in forestry, natural resource management, development studies, or relevant disciplines.

Additional Requirements

  • The incumbent must be acquainted with the development discourses of Bangladesh and has a proven track record of developing and managing projects, particularly in the natural resource management sector.   • Advanced knowledge and experience in fundraising, program planning, development & management, with the ability to integrate global & national priorities along with development partners’ country strategies into project development.
  • Proven ability to network effectively with key stakeholders, including government entities, development partners, NGOs, civil society organizations, and other relevant bodies.
  • Excellent editorial skills & demonstrated performance in producing high-quality reports for donors and counterparts.     

Experience

  • At least 15 years of practical working experience relevant to the “key duties and responsibilities” mentioned above is extremely required for this position.

  • The candidate must have experience in natural resources management programs within public, private, or development organizations.
  • The experience must include at least five years in project management positions, such as project director, project manager, or team leader.
  • Experience working with major development partners, including USAID, the World Bank, GIZ, EU, UNDP, FAO, FCDO, etc., and managing large NGO partnership programs will be treated as an added advantage.

Job Context

Arannayk Foundation (AF), also known as the Bangladesh Tropical Forest Conservation Foundation, is a not-for-profit organization registered under the Bangladesh Companies Act 1994. Established in 2003 through a joint initiative of the Government of Bangladesh and the Government of the USA, AF provides grants and technical support to NGOs, universities, research organizations and other eligible entities for forest and biodiversity conservation activities, including development of alternative livelihood for forest-dependent communities. The Foundation implements projects funded by various donors and operates its head office in Dhaka, with project offices in Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Bandarban, Sylhet, and Khulna. The AF is governed by a seven-membered Board of Directors, comprising one representative from the Governments of the United States and Bangladesh along with five non-government members representing civil society, research and academic institutions, and communities of practices engaged in forest and ecosystem conservation, and livelihood development activities.

AF is hiring for the position of Head of Programs to join its dynamic team. 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this position include supporting the current projects portfolio, managing networks of partner organizations, driving fundraising initiatives, designing and developing programs, and overall planning and management of AF’s programs, with specific duties related to the projects as assigned by the Executive Director. Key responsibilities of this position will include, but are not limited to –

  • Provide leadership support in the strategic development, planning, and implementation of programs that demonstrate impactful outcomes, in alignment with the Foundation's vision, strategy, and action plans.

  • Uphold the brand values of the Arannayk Foundation and its development partners to enhance goodwill and credibility, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission, vision, and core values.

  • Foster strong affiliated engagement and actively advocate for AF's program in Bangladesh by collaborating with the government, development partners, academicians, and other relevant stakeholders through meetings, workshops, conferences, and other forums.

  • Pursue funding opportunities across all of AF's competency areas by generating innovative ideas through close liaison with donors and development partners, while ensuring the preparation of high-quality proposals.

  • Manage and develop professional relationships with stakeholders, including representatives from the public and private sectors, government officials, NGOs, and development partners.

  • Take the lead in identifying program funding challenges, priorities, and opportunities and contribute to the development of funding concepts and proposals.

  • Ensure the effective implementation of participatory Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) strategies, as outlined in the agreed work plan and project agreements at all levels of the AF's program within the country.

  • Ensure the timely submission of high-quality, illustrative progress and program performance reports that adhere to the desired standards and guidelines.

  • Ensure comprehensive documentation of project learnings and represent the organization in various program-related knowledge-sharing and learning events and foster an organizational culture of knowledge-sharing across programs.

  • Foster collaborative teamwork with all project staff, identify program challenges and enhance staff competencies by creating an enabling environment.

  • Provide guidance for preparing communication materials, publications, training modules & reports for institutional development, technical capacity building of staff and counterparts for natural resource management, and other emerging issues.

  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the AF management team or any other tasks determined by the Executive Director in the best interest of the Arannayk Foundation.

  • Report to the Executive Director of AF, who will provide supervision, monitoring, and guidance in planning, designing, strategy development, reporting, and other technical advisory support required for managing the AF program activities.
