Education
  • Bachelor’s or master's degree in business administration, Commerce, or a related field. An MBA is preferred.
Experience

  • Proven track record in managing commercial documents and processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Responsibilities & Context

We are seeking a highly experienced individual to oversee our Commercial Department in Dhaka. A reputable and reliable supplier of dry bulk commodities, our group has maintained a strong presence in Bangladesh for over 34 years. With offices in multiple countries across two continents, we handle a diverse range of bulk commodities, including clinker, limestone, slag, gypsum, and fertilizers. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing commercial functions, monitoring all trade operations, LCs, and maintaining relationships with banks, stakeholders, and the Head Office. The role also involves ensuring smooth communication with international and local clients, as well as handling internal business correspondence.

Major Job Responsibilities:     

  • Manage the issuance of all PIs, draft and transmit LC reviews according to PIs, monitor and follow up on LC opening status, amendments, and corrections.
  • Scrutinize all commercial documents as per LC terms, share them with clients in a timely manner, ensure proper record-keeping, follow up on duty processing with clients, and liaise with the head office in HK for payment/acceptance information.
  • Additionally, follow up with clients for LC payments and handle sales/purchase contracts in accordance with agreed business terms and conditions.
  • Coordinate with shipping team on BL issues and LOI follow-up, prepare draft LOI and review non-negotiable BLs and shipping documents,
  • Review non-negotiable BLs and other docs as per LC terms,
  • Follow-up with buyer/marketing team/Shipping Agent/C&F Agent for timely duty payments.
  • Coordinate with Shipping Agent/C&F Agent for "Direct Delivery Permission" from customs and port traffic manager
  • Liaise with Buyer/LC opening Bank for acceptance of LC docs and timely payment.
  • Regularly maintain LC registers and all commercial documents folders in MS SharePoint (client & vessel basis) within the internal domain.
  • Preserve relevant policy documents, customer interactions, and delivery acknowledgment documents.
  • Responsible for prepare & submit monthly, quarterly and annual reports to the management / Superior for necessary action.
  • Adapt and upgrade business processes regarding commercial matters such as LC collection, payment collection, and all kinds of commercial documents.
  • Initiate and execute proper business communication with all stakeholders and the head office. Liaise with sales and operations teams to escalate and resolve commercial matters effectively.
